If you ran your auto engine exhaust with a hose into an ant mound, would it kill all the ants and the queen?

the ants are a medium sized black ant common to central canada and are making huge mounds in my nice lawn. and after checking the internet I came up with everything from cornmeal, (too slow) to gasoline and a match (too destructive) but no mention of anything close to the idea of using engine exhaust to annihilate the little buggers. any experiance or knowledge on this would be would be great.
